tomkat's supposed marriage contract

been avoiding any TomKat post. even though rumor abound that this was just an arrangement, i don't see anything wrong with it being real. i just started disliking tom after everything he's said about scientology vs. psychiatry.

and since i'm not really interested in them, this is new to me:

Did Katie Holmes enter a contract with this...?

the inquiry is
this... katie
holmes contract marriage

On June 17, 2005, the NY Daily News
gossip column The Daily Dish [about
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes] wrote this...

Some
engaging tidbits
So here's what I'm hearing about that relationship.
A source VERY close to the deal is saying there's a contract.
It's worth $5
million.
It's for five years.
There will be no sex.
The deal was sealed
June 7.
That's what I'm hearing.

and then there's more:

Holmes accepted Cruise's 5 year,
$5M, sex-free marriage contract
to become his third wife (see also: Mimi
Rogers, Nicole Kidman), but she was fifth down the list of The Church of
Scientology's Third Cruise Arranged Marriage
quest (see also: Scarlett
Johansson
, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Linsday Lohan)

and i suppose katie is what they are looking for, having admitted to fantasizing about marrying tom cruise when she was still a little girl. read more from this page.

fireflies

when you first meet someone and the conversation starts as though it was in the middle of the said conversation, you know it’s a potentially karmic encounter.

we all have our share of these memorable trysts – in a party, in the mall, on the net, or in some strange mindanao city while you’re on vacation alone. i remember talking with a guy for the first time by the beach when the night was young, only retiring when the moon was 180 degrees from when we started talking. i had this enormous feeling, like it was the beginning of something extraordinary.

not all of these serendipitous meetings would end up as enormous as when it started.

one time, i asked a guy in the bus for the time. we ended up talking all the way to our destination. the fact that he was pleasant to stare at for hours was a big bonus. never saw him again. i don’t even remember his name.

something similar happened some years after that, but this time, we both took a chance and did meet up on a whim. next thing i knew, i had an impromptu invitation for breakfast at 4am (he had to wake me up by incessantly ringing my cell), coffee one late afternoon, and a movie another evening. then, we just drifted away. had we said a proper goodbye, it would have been depressing, i suppose.

it doesn’t always have to come from chance encounters. the most pleasant surprises usually come from someone you know for a while but haven’t actually talked to. however, there is one element to this that makes it even more special - that feeling that you’re drawn to that person from the beginning but never really paid attention to it. take this friend for instance: the first time we had a conversation, it was a formal one. the first real conversation we had was on a boring night five years later. i guess it was just the natural thing to do when you both know each other and were put together in the same 10-meter radius. we were still talking some nine hours later. this, in fact, started an amazing friendship.

one night not long ago, he and i took a walk around the village. we had a discussion that became too somber that i broke down in tears. he took me in his arms in an attempt to calm me down. then, he turned my attention to a firefly. we both fell silent. i watched as it floated aimlessly in the field. i was amazed that it has been more than ten years since i recall watching a firefly. moments later, i grew impatient. i was actually waiting for him to tell me something profound, because that’s what i thought this thing was about, but - no. it really was his way of diverting my attention so i’d stop crying. it worked.

then, the firefly just faded.

i was just pleased it was there when i needed it.

iriver

in my quest for the best mp3 player, i ran across a blog with a take on iriver over the popular ipod:

ipod owners are fools
by the jerk

"i just purchased myself a fine piece of digital audio multimedia hardware that plays the standard slate of music files but also displays images, video and can read text files, all on a color screen (that's "colour" for you euro-trash tuning in) for less money than the same gigabyted ipod (is that a word? gigabyted?). besides the price, my iriver mp3 player is recognized by any windows operating system without additional drivers and is therefore easier to transfer music directly without the need to go thru the i-tunes middle man. the wide range of mp3 player on the market clearly indicate ipods are inferior products but some brainlessly follow the herd. and to anyone citing ipod's "ease of use", i have a question: who dresses you in the morning?"

"did i mention it also has a USB host port that allows file transfer to and from another USB device without the use of a PC? oh, and i forgot to mention the wired remote, FM tuner, durable pleather carrying case, line in and voice recording, as well as the AA backup battery pack, all included with my device. and one last thing, did i mention i'm having an excrutiating time urinating without blood in my stream? take that ipod schmucks!"

hey! his words! not mine! he may call himself a jerk, but i appreciate the tip.
you might want to try the
iriver official site

cartoons

i was surfing the net this afternoon, when i chanced upon lisa simpson. turns out i have a lot of things in common with her. we're both:

1. musically-inclined
2.
ovo-lacto vegetarian with plans of being vegan someday
3. rebels at one point in our lives (hasn't everybody been?)
4. with a strong sense of leftist political and social conviction (read: U.P.)... a bit past tense for me, though.
5. members of a
secret society (uh... not really secret, but...)

i dunno how many times i was asked on who my favorite cartoon character is. now i know who is most like me. however, i still have the tendency to favor dee-dee (dexter's laboratory). i still go ooh! what does this button do most of the time, too. this makes my troubleshooting methods sorta efficient.

today's links were brought to you by wikipedia, because it's easier to look it up there.

renee olstead

for my fellow music junkies

i'm a big fan of paradoxes! i loved the first time joss stone came into the music scene with her big soulful voice, with the thought that the woman behind it would be a 30-40-somethin' black woman; then finding out that joss stone is a 16 yr.old white girl from the suburbs in u.k.

and then there were charlotte church, fat boy slim and macy gray. (and that's all i'm gonna say about her).

this time, i'm going back to those jazzy/blues music. i kinda gave up on it when my dad saturated the house and the car (and the van, and the house in tuguegarao, and the videoke machine... you know what i mean) with michael buble. trix and i thought that sharing it with him would be a good bonding thang; it backfired.

same thing with norah jones and my mom.

so you understand why i'm keeping
renee olstead to myself this time.

i first encountered her name as a musician last year, but didn't pay much attention due to the reasons above. and seeing her album cover reminded me of a 30-40 yr old. not another kevyn lettau, i thought.

however, i also am an avid fan of
still standing from the first time i watched it one boring evening 3 years ago when my tv could only show me 5 networks. i adored the red-head kid! reminded me of drew barrymore somehow. it was stupid of me not to tie-up her name with the name in the music store.

so imagine my surprise again that 15 yr old renee could sound the way she does!

listen to renee

i think it plays the whole album. (the controls are on the upper right corner of the page where the old-school mic is)

she just completed her new album last month; still waiting for its release soon.

by the way, charlotte church has an edgier sound these days... and added weight that i couldn't believe!

when isko went to makati

when isko took the mensa exam at oakwood, the only chance he could brag about it was in a private room outside the exam room...

... and on the way back to where he parked, he didn't pass up a photo op.

of course, he was conflicted between taking a dip, going shopping, or to go home and unwind after some mental exercise.

he figured a mind is a terrible thing to waste, especially if you're a bird brain.

you really got me

this blog fell: sept 6, 2005

rumer and i were playing a game of "guess from which movie this quote came from." we didn't keep score, but it was very clear who whipped who's butt.

ahem.

Girl, you really got me goin’
You got me so I don’t know what I’m doin’
Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can’t sleep at night
***
the only rule of the game: only the famous quotes from famous movies.

i even went as far as quoting some from movies he love. that's so if he can't get it, mas alaskado sya.

You really got me
You really got me
You really got me
***
here we go:

movie quotes part 1

1. I love him! I love him for the man he wants to be. And I love him for the man he almost is.
The human head weighs eight pounds.
Shut up. Just shut up. You had me at "hello."
You complete me.
Show me the money!

2. Look, I guarantee there'll be tough times. I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us is gonna want to get out of this thing. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you're the only one for me.

3. Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.

Lean in, place your hand on the small of her back, say it in her ear like a secret. But watch your hand placement, too high says, "I just wanna be friends", too low says, "I just wanna grab some ass".
Okay. Friends. Ass. Me.

Do the Q-tip! Q-tip! Now throw it away! Now what am I doing? I'm makin a pizza!

4. I know you think we can't be together, but can't you respect me enough to let me make my own decision? I know there'll be risks but I want to face them with you. It's wrong that we should be only half alive... half of ourselves. I love you. So here I am - standing in your doorway. I have always been standing in your doorway. Isn't it about time somebody saved your life?

5. Here’s lookin’ at you, kid.

6. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you.

That's my sweetheart in there. Wherever she is, that's where my home is.

7. I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

8. I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One.

9. They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you, their eyes are full of hope, just like you. Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see gentlemen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary.

10. You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person I'll guarantee you'll win.

1. Jerry Maguire 2. Runaway Bride 3. Hitch 4.Spider-Man 2 5. Casablanca 6. The Notebook 7. 10 Things I Hate About You 8.City of Angels 9. Dead Poets Society 10. Patch Adams

***

kinda makes you feel more in love.

then again...

Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don’t know what I’m doin’, now
Oh yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I can’t sleep at night
You really got me
You really got me
You really got me.

name my hippie car

i have had this toyota corolla xe for over a year now. it's a 1994 model, has acquired a little dent, has paint falling off in some small places and it needs a new tint. despite the external flaws, mah baby can still roll smoothly. it's coming into its own personality. it has had this dreamcatcher for a year, and throw pillows with silver star prints. dreamy.

because we aren't used to naming cars, we h
ave been so creative to call our cars as "blue," "gli," or "van." but everyone else i know has named their car at some point.

it seems that with the personality that xe is taking, this car is a hippie. so i searched for
hippie names, and have narrowed down the names to 3:

1. dakota
2. coyote (because of its battle scars)
3. skylar (hi skye!)

so which do you think fits my hippie car?

other considerations that probably don't fit my hippie car:
trinity, felicity, capucine, doobie (yeh! high tayo!), justice, river, sadie, willow, nutmeg (i love this spice)
so what do i name my hippie car?

the best suggestions gets... pag-iisipan ko muna kung anong prize...hmm...
